It's Been a While

It has been quite a while since I last posted and a whole lot has happened. My oldest daughter got married in November, my grandmother passed away just a couple of weeks before the wedding, then my computer crashed just after the wedding; and although sometimes you would like to raise your hands in the air and just say STOP...give me a break; it doesn't stop and life goes on.

I was very close to my grandmother and was very sad when she passed on. On the bright side, she did not suffer. She found out that she had lung cancer a few months earlier, took the treatments for it and seemed to stay in good spirits throughout. She was never on pain medication higher than extra strength tylenol (what a trooper). She went down hill really fast over the course of a weekend, still not in pain but short of breath. I went to visit her on a Saturday and she was gone just a few short days later. The Lord really blessed us in the fact that we did not have to watch her suffer for months on end. She went very peacefully at her daughter's house, just closed her eyes and went to sleep. She lead a very full life with lots of love, laughter and fun. I will post a tribute to her soon.

The timing of my grandmother's death was strange in a way. It was just a couple of weeks before my daughter's wedding; which put a sort of saddness in the air but also opened up a door of opportunity as well. My grandmother's children (including my dad) asked if my daughter and soon to be son-in-law wanted to live in my grandmother's house. This was truely a blessing. Her house is located exactly between my house and his parents house and also in between where they work. It was really the perfect location and it was rent free, so this will help them get established without having to worry so much about finances.

The wedding turned out beautiful and the newlyweds are all settled in their new home. They have been married now for two months. I will be posting wedding pictures soon. Right now I'm trying to recover everything that I lost when my computer crashed. I have a new harddrive now but it's blank so it may take a while to get them posted.

The new year has begun and I'm looking forward to a better one than last year. It was a very rough year for me and my family. I have heard many times that this is the year of restoration and I am claiming that in Jesus name; it is the year for restoration and order. I pray the Lord bless each and every person who is reading this post and that He will restore to you everything that the devil has tried to steal from you and your families.
Blessing in the name of Jesus

Planning A Wedding

I never realized that planning a wedding would be so tedious. My daughter is getting married pretty soon and there is so much to do. My other two daughters are the maid or honor and one of the bridesmaids. We finally got the wedding dress off layaway, had it altered and have brought it home. Both of the other girls dresses are here as well, thank the Lord only one of them had to be altered.

This is all happening to fast. My little girl has grown up into a beautiful young woman and I am so very proud of her. These next few weeks will be very busy for all of us. She and her finance are looking for an apartment now so he can go ahead and move in and set things up. We bought them a diningroom table which is now set up in my kitchen awaiting it's new home. My office is filled with all the wedding extras.... napkins, tulle, bows, candles, ring bearer pillow, flower girl basket....etc..... stacked up and waiting for the big day...... November 7th.

My husband was taken off guard when he realized that the day his daughter was getting married was also opening day of deer season... uh oh... big no - no. How could a daughter of an avid deer hunter possibly schedule a wedding on opening day..... well, it's too late now so I guess he'll be going the day after opening day. I guess this just proves that he does love us more than hunting.....LOL I did inform my daughter that there may not be many men at the wedding. She said , "Oh well, as long as the groom is there it'll be just fine." We'll see, I just hope the preacher shows up...he' a big time hunter as well.....lol

Loving This Weather

I've just been sitting here enjoying the nice weather today. It has gotten me in the mood to do some baking, sewing, quilting...etc. I have been working on some crochet lately. I am making a few wedding gifts with crochet thread and already have one finished, with two more to go. When the weather starts to turn cooler and I can leave my windows open, it really stirs me up. I love the fall time of year, it makes me feel alive as opposed to those dreary hot days of summer where you melt if you go outside and you really don't like being cooped up inside either.
Welcome Fall

Bountiful Harvest

This is just from one day. We have been getting an abundance of fresh vegetables from our garden and I am so thankful. Things were starting to look a little limp and dry, but the Lord sent us a good rain today and perked things right back up. We will be enjoying fresh breaded okra tonight and possibly some zucchinni bread too. I've never made it before, but have eaten it and liked it, so I will look for a good recipe and give it a try.

The Simple Things in Life

I've been doing a lot of thinking lately about wanting to get back to the simple things in life. Although I do love modern technology, I think I've been way too wrapped up in them. I have been enjoying facebook, catching up with old friends and chatting with new friends, etc. , but I have gotten too addicted to it. I will still post on my blog though and share my thoughts and recipes, because that's why I started it in the first place, so I could share with others my love for the simple things in life. I remember when I would wake up early and have something baking in the oven while I worked on my latest cross-stitch or embroidery work and I really miss that. I will be sharing again soon, but for now I've got some banana bread to bake.
