It's been a long time since I've updated. We've been really busy trying to wrap the school year up and the girls have been dragging their feet this school year so it's taking me forever to get all their grades averaged and transcrips up to date. Now it's time to order their new books and get all of next year's lesson plans written and put into notebooks.
What's been going on here lately........... Well we've been working in the garden, weeding and harvesting. I'm so glad we can go out to our garden and pick tomatoes and not have to worry about food poisoning. We've been getting more cucumbers and squash than we can eat so we have been giving some of that away to friends and family but we have not had an over abundance of ripe tomatoes yet only one or two every few days or so, but there are lots and lots of green ones on the vines. I can't wait until we can make salsa. We planted about thirty tomato plants so we could make enough salsa to last a good while. I'll surely be busy when they get ripe.
Our onions are getting to be a nice size so I did pick a few of them already and they are really good.
We haven't been getting as many eggs a day as we should. Only one to three a day where as before we were getting about eight a day. Laura and Olivia brought home a little blue heeler puppy a while back and we caught him eating the eggs!!!! I was not a happy camper, so Jimmy is out right now trying to get all the fencing fixed so the dog can't get in and in the mean time I put an ad in the paper to give him away.... I hope someone will take him but I think Jimmy really likes him and wants to keep him but it's so hard to get past the puppy stage. The little thing just tears up everything he sees...... including my elephant ears!!
Today I went to the antique store in town and found a couple of really neat books. One of them was an older cookbook which had a lot of really good down home food in it and I think I'll really enjoy it. The other was a 1929 home economics course book. It is the neatest thing. The sewing machine they feature in the book is a foot threadle machine (non-electric) and oh you ought to see the dress patterns they recommend. Too cute!!
